I do not think that, if the views which I hold (and which I believe you also hold to be right, though you may not be able to say so officially at this juncture) be advocated, would not either in fact prejudice this particular issue and its consideration in the proper quarters, or be construed as such by the Asquith Commission or regarded as a curious oversight on the part of the Secretary of State in view of his knowledge that the Report would shortly be appearing. I should be a good deal happier about this if I knew that paragraph 13 of 1A on 55213/44 (the Commission of Enquiry into the future status of the University) were still part of the accepted long range policy.
